Camp Information

Student Athletics Foundation (“SAF”) and Kansas City Royals Urban Youth Academy (“UYA”)have partnered to bring you the Clinic Series at Kansas City (“Clinic”) to build the community of softball beyond the limits of the Kansas City Metro area. This event will allow individuals the opportunity to work with College Coaches and instructors with years of experience, allowing a new generation of dreamers to see themselves represented on the big stage. The clinics are designed to make the student-athlete a better player. 


This Camp is for current 6th – 12th graders. The Camp is designed for softball student-athletes who have interest in competing at the collegiate level by showcasing their skills through drill evaluations. Players will be evaluated at their primary defensive position. The camp will feature instructional assistance from current College Coaches and other experienced instructional coaches. Coaches are here to provide a high level of teaching, providing feedback during the drills, and provide insight on how to improve. The player-to-coach ratio will not exceed 12:1. 

Cost (6th-8th Grade)

  • All-Skill Camp: $75
  • All-Skill Camp + P/C Clinic: $125

Cost (9th-12th Grade)

  • All-Skill Camp: $125
  • All-Skill Camp + P/C Clinic: $175
  • P/C Clinic ONLY: $75

All-Skill Clinic Information

  • Rotations in Hitting, Outfield, Infield, Speed/Agility
  • Metrics
  • Instruction from coaches attending the event
  • Feedback on Hitting & Defensive position
  • LIVE At-Bats (9th-12th Grade)

Pitcher Clinic Information

  • Must have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience
  • Must provide your own catcher for drills 
  • Pitchers will throw to registered catchers during Live & Evaluations
  • Metrics
  • Instruction from College Pitching Coaches attending the event
  • Feedback on speed, movement, accuracy, etc.
  • LIVE At-Bats (9th-12th Grade)

Catcher Clinic Information

  • Must have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience
  • Must provide your own catchers gear
  • Catchers will catch registered Pitchers during Live & Evaluations
  • Metrics
  • Instruction from College Catcher Coaches attending the event
  • Feedback on footwork, blocking, framing, etc.
  • LIVE At-Bats (9th-12th Grade)

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 17

High School All-Skills Clinic: 8:30AM - 12:00PM

Pitcher/Catcher Clinic: 1:00PM - 2:30PM

Junior High School All-Skills Clinic: 2:30PM - 6:30PM


SUNDAY, DECEMBER 18

High School Clinic Part 2: 8:00AM - 2:00PM

Clinic Information

This event is designed for the classes of 2023 - 2029  to showcase their skills in front of college coaches. The clinic will feature College Coaches as the instructors, and there may be others spectating. There are a limited number of student-athletes taken in each division

High School Division (2023 - 2026) 

  • All-Skills: 45
  • Pitchers: 12
  • Catchers: 12


Junior High School Division (2027 - 2029) 

  • All-Skills: 45
  • Pitchers: 12
  • Catchers: 12

Policies & Procedures

Event Administration

Student Athletics Foundation & BGPSB, headed by Jarrell Williams, Jerry Alexander, & Nikki Jenkins are the hosts of this event. Along with the Kansas City UYA, the team will make every effort to ensure the safety & wellbeing of everyone in attendance. If questions or disputes should arise, please bring it to the attention of Jarrell in regards to on-field activities. He shall have the final decision on all questions.

Rosters, Insurance, & Waivers

All student-athletes participating should be properly registered. All student-athletes must check-in prior to the start of the camp. Each participating student-athlete should have their own primary insurance coverage. By registering for this event, you understand, acknowledge, and verify any and all waivers as directed by the Student Athletics Foundation, and all of its partner during registration. 

Arrival Policy

Student-athletes should plan to arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled check-in time as the event may start prior to the published time. 

Modifications

The SAF Management Team may modify the length of the clinic when necessary. This includes modifying the time limit if things get backed up.

Refund Policy

Refund requests to be removed prior to November 1 will be issued a refund less a $50 processing fee. After November 1 there will be no refunds given. If the event is canceled due to weather, COVID or any other causes, refunds will be issued of the tournament fee less a $50 processing fee. SAF Management have the right to change the clinic format. Once the event begins there will be no refunds issued.

Local Policies & Ordinances

 

All student-athletes and families are required to adhere to local park policies and ordinances. Alcohol and/or tobacco shall not be brought into the confines of the venue. You as an individually are ultimately responsible and accountable for the conduct of yourself, and members of your family.
